WWE SmackDown – 21 Nov 2025: Detailed Recap & Highlights

Venue & Context

  • The episode took place at the Ball Arena in Denver

  • The show strongly built toward Survivor Series / WarGames, setting up major matchups and story developments.

Opening Segment — WarGames Build
  • The show opened with Paul Heyman in the ring, flanked by his faction The Vision (Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul). He cut a provocative promo about their “vision” for WarGames, emphasizing strategy, power, and dominance.

  • The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) interrupted, calling out Heyman’s arrogance and asserting they won’t be outnumbered.

  • When Cody Rhodes’ music hit, the crowd expected him to come out — but instead, the camera cut backstage.

  • Backstage, Drew McIntyre was shown gruesomely attacking Rhodes on his bus. Rhodes had a visible head wound, and medics rushed in. McIntyre taunted him before driving off.

  • This segment raised serious doubt about Rhodes’ condition going into WarGames.

In-Ring Action & Matches

  1. U.S. Championship — Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. JD McDonagh

    • McDonagh answered Dragunov’s open challenge.

    • They traded strikes, suplexes, and high-impact offense. McDonagh hit Kawada-style kicks; Dragunov responded with German suplexes.

    • Eventually, Dragunov executed his H-Bomb finisher to pin McDonagh and retain the title.

  1. Last Time Is Now” Tournament — First Round
      • Carmelo Hayes vs. Bronson Reed

        • The match was tense: Reed’s power vs. Hayes’ speed and technique. During the match, members of The Vision (Heyman, Breakker, Paul) tried to tilt the odds.

        • Cody Rhodes, despite his earlier attack, made a surprising return. He struck Reed with a Cross Rhodes outside the ring, enabling Hayes to win via count-out.

        • After the match, Rhodes, visibly wounded, cut a passionate promo. He challenged Heyman and The Vision, saying they’d “see him at Survivor Series.”

        • Penta vs. Finn Bálor

        • Penta defeated Bálor and advanced in the tournament.

    • Tag Team Match — DIY (Gargano & Ciampa) vs. Fraxiom (Axiom & Nathan Frazer)

      • The match saw crafty teamwork from DIY.

      • Candice LeRae, at ringside, pulled Axiom’s mask off when the referee wasn’t looking.

      • Gargano capitalized on that moment and rolled up Axiom for the pin — DIY won

  2. Backstage & Women’s WarGames Angle

    • Backstage, Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley had a tense but meaningful exchange. Ripley said she wanted Flair beside her in WarGames, and after talking it out, Flair agreed.

    • The women’s WarGames team was revealed: AJ Lee was introduced as the fifth member for the babyface side (with Ripley, Flair, IYO SKY, Alexa Bliss).

    • But in a shocking twist, Becky Lynch attacked AJ Lee mid-entrance, siding with the opposing heel team (which includes Nia Jax, Asuka, Lash Legend, and Kairi Sane). Lynch shook Asuka’s hand, officially joining their team.
